Dr. (Col) A Balasubramanian is a triple Post Graduate and a rare personality known for his creative approach and contribution in the field of education. Before setting out on the path of bringing quality education to the youth, Dr. Bala – as he is dearly known in the Campus and in the education fraternity, served the Indian Army for 28 years. He is accredited with the idea of founding the first ever management institute solely for defence personnel and their dependents. He also happens to be the first Indian from the armed forces to be conferred the Honorary Rank of Colonel, post-retirement. Following suite but, much later than this, cricket icons Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni were conferred the honorary rank of Lt Col and Group Captain.
