Water is the fluid of life. It is said that a man will die if he doesn’t drink any water in a week. Cool water is one of the most sought drinks in summer as nothing alleviates the feeling of heat, fatigue and tiredness like a tall glass of cooled water. The importance of water increases the highest during summer. Further, hydrating the body by drinking a right quantity of water replenishes the water that is lost from the body in form of sweat.
The body craves water in summer because the heat causes the cells in the water to dry and lose their enzymes which affects their daily work in maintaining the body and in turn, causes tiredness and fatigue. Best results are got by drinking the right quantity of water so that the body is kept cool during the summer. It is said that water tastes best if it is stored and allowed to cool inside an earthen made pot – ‘Matka’ which keeps the water cool for up to 20 hours in a day.
Summer is also the month of diseases as the body, weakened due to the heat, finds itself weak against invading germs, viruses, pathogens and prions. Proper hydration, consumption of green leafy vegetables and food along with clean and hygienically prepared, hot and nutritious food builds up the strength of the body allowing it to present a better resistance against diseases, enabling one to live, play and enjoy the wonderful and warm period of the year that is summer.
